The 80th Academy Awards ceremony,honored the best films of 2007 in the United States and took place on February 24, 2008, at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Actor and talk show host Jon Stewart hosted the show for the second time, having previously presided over the 78th ceremony held in 2006. People in charge of producing this awesome ceremony were thinking big about the event's content and the 80th anniversary of the Oscars. It turned out to be a fabulous evening surrounded by the greatest icons of the industry. 

Best Picture: "No Country for Old Men"  by Scott Rudin, Ethan Coen, and Joel Coen
Best Actor: Daniel Day-Lewis in "There Will Be Blood"
Best Actress: Marion Cotillard in "La Vie en rose as Édith Piaf"

The 79th Academy Awards ceremony, honored the best films of 2006 and took place February 25, 2007, at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Actress and comedian Ellen DeGeneres hosted for the first time. The producers of the ceremony were really concerned about raising the ratings and amount of viewers of the event. That's why Ellen DeGeneres was the host, because she has a special magnetism, confidence and originality. There was also a special announcement revealing that the AMPAS (the organization in charge of the gala) were adopting a greener approach and an environmentally friendly attitude towards the world and the organization's activities.  

  • Best Actor: Forest Whitaker in "The Last King of Scotland"
  • Best Actress: Helen Mirren in "The Queen" 
  • Best Movie: "The Departed" by Graham King  


       

The 78th Academy Awards

The 78th Academy Awards:

The 78th Academy Awards ceremony, took place on March 5, 2006, at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. The ceremony was scheduled one week later than usual to avoid conflicting with the 2006 Winter Olympics.Actor Jon Stewart hosted the show for the first time. Stewart expressed that he was honored to be selected , "Although, as an avid watcher of the Oscars, I can't help but be a little disappointed with the choice. It appears to be another sad attempt to smoke out Billy Crystal." Referring to some negative comments of the previous gala. Anyway, the ceremony was a huge one. Always full of magic, laughter and of course elegance and talent.

Best Actress: Reese Witherspoon in "Walk the Line" 
Best Actor: Philip Seymour Hoffman in "Capote"

THE 76th ACADEMY AWARDS:


The 76th Academy Awards ceremony, honored the best films of 2003 and took place on February 29, 2004, at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Actor Billy Crystal hosted for the eighth time. He first presided over the 62nd ceremony held in 1990 and had last hosted the 72nd ceremony held in 2000. With a new producer behind the ceremony the event was positively different. 

  • Best Actor: Sean Penn – "Mystic River"
  • Best Actress: Charlize Theron – "Monster"
  • Best Picture: The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

THE 77th ACADEMY AWARDS:

The 77th Academy Awards honored the best films of 2004 and were held on February 27, 2005, at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California. They were hosted by comedian Chris Rock. At age 74 Clint Eastwood became the oldest director to win the Oscar. This was also the second straight year that he directed two Academy Award-winning performances.

The 75th Academy Awards

The 75th Academy Awards ceremony,honored films released in 2002 and took place on March 23, 2003, at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Steve Martin hosted the event with his unique and entertaining personality. Two important things happened during the ceremony. The first one was the 75th anniversary of the Academy Awards, 59 actors who have received both competitive and honorary awards appeared seated onstage together during a segment called Oscar's Family Album. The other thing that took place was the announcement of the American-led invasion of Iraq that affected the telecast, several actors such as Cate Blanchett, Jim Carrey, and Will Smith resigned from their roles as presenters because of safety concerns and respect for military families.
